Well. I have been tasked with creating a weekly blog about our MOMents study meetings. I'm not really sure how to go about it, so I am just jumping in with both feet and winging it! If there is something that you would like to see me write about specifically, please let me know.
Last night was our very first meeting, and it was really exciting. There was a lot of business to take care of, we ended up going a little long, and didn't quite get the whole chapter done, but next week should go more smoothly. You can expect each meeting to last about 1 hour.
The first order of business was to establish what our expectations should be. Turns out that we really should have any. :-). We want Sunnycrest MOMents to be a place where you can feel free to come and fellowship with other women who are in situations similar to yours, in a judgment free zone, where what we hear during meetings is to be kept confidential.
The second order of business was snack time. We want MOMents to be a place where you look forward to being every week. Where you can take a little time for your self and just relax. It is impossible to have a special time with out snacks. The plan is to have a special treat every week, some will be healthy, some will not. If you missed out on the meeting last night, you missed out on warm home made rhubarb crisp.
We spent a good portion of the hour doing introductions, and learning a bit about each other and our own personal walks with God. I learned a lot of things about a lot of people. It was neat to hear everyone's story, and to see how similar we really all are. I think we are going to have a really fun group of ladies. We laughed A LOT last night.
After general introductions we dove right into our books. Most of us had not prepared in advance. I didn't even receive my book until last night. I know for me personally, I will benefit from this study more if I prepare in advance, which after last night, I know won't take me long to do at all. It is just a little reading, and answering a few questions. (hint... the answers are in the back of the book) We did elaborate a little on the books answers during our discussion.
Alright, so having no clue what I am actually supposed to be doing with this blog, I am going to close for this week, with a prayer.
Heavenly father, thank you for bringing us together, for giving us the opportunity to learn from one another, and for giving us a safe place to lean when we need it. Help us to open our hearts and minds to your word. Be with us through out our week, so that we can see your works in our lives. In Jesus name, Amen.
